UTM Consultants are looking for a Project Engineer, to manage and oversee the technical aspects of an offshore subsea telecoms project. This contract-based role will focus on subsea cable installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in dynamic offshore environments in France for a year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination: Lead and coordinate all engineering activities related to subsea cable installation, fibre optic deployment, and maintenance.
- Schedule and Budget Management: Monitor project progress, manage timelines, and ensure the project stays within budget by effectively managing resources and controlling costs.
- Technical Support: Provide engineering expertise during all project phases, from installation through commissioning and ongoing maintenance, to resolve technical challenges.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all engineering work, including subsea cable splicing, terminations, and cable handling, meets established quality standards and client specifications.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with offshore safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental policies.
- Team Leadership: Manage and coordinate with offshore teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure smooth project execution.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Address and resolve technical issues during subsea cable installation and maintenance, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
- Documentation: Oversee the preparation of technical documentation, including reports, project plans, and as-built records.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Offshore/Subsea Project Experience: Proven experience working on offshore projects, particularly in subsea cable installation and fibre optics.
- Engineering Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of subsea cable handling, fibre optic splicing, and telecommunication infrastructure.
- Project Management: Experience with project management tools and techniques to oversee scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to find solutions to complex technical issues.
- Leadership: Experience managing and leading multidisciplinary teams in offshore environments.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
