Marine & Helicopter Coordinator

Location: Grimsby area (applicants should ideally be located within approximately 2 hours of Grimsby). Candidates must be based in the UK and have UK right to work already in place.

Working Hours: 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Rotation: Typically 1 week on / 1 week off or 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off.

There may be opportunities for additional ad-hoc shifts during the main contract period and before or after the core project duration. Contract extension may be available depending on project workload requirements.

Role Overview

Marine & Helicopter Coordination is a critical support function within the Offshore Operations & Logistics team, enabling the safe construction and operation of offshore wind farm assets. The role is responsible for coordinating marine and aviation activities, managing offshore personnel and asset movements, supporting emergency response activities, and ensuring safe access to offshore facilities.

The successful candidate will work within a fast-paced operational environment, maintaining situational awareness of offshore activities while supporting project teams, vessel operators, helicopter operators, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Marine and Aviation Coordination

  • Coordinate vessel and helicopter movements in accordance with approved procedures, protocols, and operational requirements.
  • Manage marine traffic control and offshore access arrangements.
  • Coordinate airspace activities to support safe helicopter operations to, from, and within the offshore wind farm.
  • Monitor vessel activity and support vessel avoidance measures where required.
  • Optimise vessel utilisation by managing daily allocations and responding to operational changes.

Personnel and Asset Tracking

  • Maintain accurate tracking of all personnel working offshore.
  • Monitor vessel, asset, and communication status across the project.
  • Manage Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) access restrictions and permissions.
  • Ensure offshore management systems are accurately maintained and updated.

Emergency Response

  • Act as the primary point of contact for offshore emergency response coordination.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities and communications with project personnel, emergency services, regulatory bodies, and external agencies.
  • Support emergency response planning and preparedness activities.

Weather Monitoring and Operational Support

  • Monitor weather forecasts, observations, and marine conditions.
  • Interpret meteorological and marine data to provide operational advice and recommendations.
  • Liaise with weather service providers to resolve data issues and maintain service continuity.

Stakeholder Liaison and Reporting

  • Liaise with local stakeholders, vessel operators, helicopter operators, HSE teams, marine inspectors, and project personnel.
  • Complete statutory and operational reporting requirements, including:
    • Pollution incidents
    • Navigation lighting issues
    • Drifting buoys
    • Vessel infringements
    • Other regulatory reporting obligations

Requirements

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a Marine Coordinator or similar offshore operations role.
  • Experience coordinating offshore emergency response activities.
  • Experience in personnel tracking and offshore workforce management.
  • Experience in marine traffic control and vessel coordination.
  • Experience supporting offshore aviation/helicopter operations.
  • Experience monitoring weather and marine operations in an offshore environment.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Competent in the use of offshore operations and supplier database systems.
  • Competent in marine radio communications.
  • Strong computer literacy and administrative skills.
  • Familiarity with maritime certification requirements and offshore compliance standards.

The project is due to start on 15th June 2026 and will last approx. 16 weeks
